All Gain, No Pain Fitness Swimming
Dive! Swimming involves several important components of fitness - cardiovascular training, muscular strength and flexibility - and this is a great way to stay fit. No matter what your sport, you train a pool pass may improve its performance in its core activities.
1. Beginning and end of each workout warm up and cool-down.
2. Variety in swimming, strength training equipment to add resistance.
3. Improve your stroke for greater speed and efficiency.
Advantages and limitations of water use
Swimming and water aerobics has many advantages:
* Low Impact - Water provides buoyancy, which reduces the effect of gravity by 90%, so that you can perform a minimum impact on the joints. Water also allows for the movement, which would otherwise have limited space, so that the beneficial use of water and swimming to increase flexibility and recovery from injury.
* High Resistance - provides resistance to water movement in all directions, opposing muscle groups to carry out the work. By contrast, the air is about 700 times less dense than water, so you only work one muscle group, if you pull against gravity. Hand-held paddles and water authorities can create even more resistance to water-intensive training.
* Proper alignment - the water acts as back and front muscles so that the body properly aligned. The muscles are evenly developed and worked in the balance.
* Total-Body Workout - swimming is an activity that is greater than the resistance of the upper body on your feet. It develops the muscles of upper back, shoulders, arms and chest. It also improves your posture, strengthens and stretches the back muscles. You can have a lower body workout, focusing on your kick Kickboard.

Swimming Obviously Good Exercise
Swimming is good exercise (obviously). Swimming is a life sport that benefits the body and a healthy person! But what makes a good swimming in particular? It depends on what you are trying to achieve.
Swimming is a healthy activity that can be carried throughout their lives - and offering health benefits of swimming in a lifetime is worth the effort it takes to get half. It works almost every muscle in your body (if you do a variety of shots). Swimming is generally to develop a strong swimmer, fitness and cardiovascular endurance. It does not help bone density - weight bearing exercise you need for that - but that's about all that is missing, you can make your swimming fitness.
Why do you swim? Health benefits for your heart and lungs? For a chance to be with friends at the pool? Because of your work every day hurts? Because you love the feeling of floating and sliding through the water? ? Or is it something else if you're looking to break the summer heat, then dip in the water is just what you need, you have the option of swimming to cool off. It fills a wonderful recreational need for individuals and families, enjoy the beach and the pool water parks.
Maybe you're a runner, training on a regular basis and want to find activities that will allow your heart rate, but takes some of the effects of stress out of your body. Maybe you have some other physical activity on the ground, and now the injury prevents you from putting pressure on one knee or ankle. Swimming can help you. Kicking workouts, water aerobics, pool running, swimming, or exercising regularly can all give you a great workout without the weight of your body, you beat me every time.
Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to your regular workouts. Before a land workout, you can use the pool for a warm-up session. Swimming with increasing effort to gradually increase your heart rate and stimulate your muscle activity is easily accomplished in the water. After a land workout, swimming a few laps can help you cool-down, move blood through your muscles to help them recover, and help you relax as you glide through the water.
Swimming does burn calories at a rate of about 3 calories a mile per pound of bodyweight. If you weigh 150 lbs. and it takes you 30 minutes to swim one mile (1,760 yards or 1,609 meters), then you will be using about 900 calories in one hour. However, many swimmers do not swim that quickly, and many cannot swim for that distance or duration.
Spending time in a group workout, whether water aerobics or a master's swim practice, is a great social outlet. Exchanging stories, challenging each other, and sharing in the hard work make swimming with others a rewarding experience.
There are other psychological benefit to swimming, if you allow it to occur. Relax and swim with a very low effort. Let your mind wander, focusing on nothing but the rhythm of your stroke. This form of meditation can help you gain a feeling of well-being, leaving your water session refreshed and ready to go on with the rest of your day. Many swimmers find an in-direct benefit form swimming. They develop life skills such as sportsmanship, time-management, self-discipline, goal-setting, and an increased sense of self-worth through their participation in the sport. Swimmers seem to do better in school, in general terms, than non-swimmers as a group.

Imagine wearing sleeveless blouses and short skirts with toned arms and legs have a smile on my face!
The benefits of swimming are endless. It’s really good for heart as it increases endurance and strength, oxygenates blood, and boost cardiovascular health. Our cardiovascular health will reap the benefits the most out of swimming. As we become fitter and are able to swim for longer time, the resting heart rate and respiratory rate will be reduced, making blood flow to heart and lungs more efficient. Studies also show that swimming can help reduce high blood pressure as it reduces adrenaline circulating in the body and relaxes blood vessels. in turn our pulse rate is lowered and so is our blood pressure.
Almost everybody can take up swimming. If you visit the swimming pool, you will see old and young, little kits and even pregnant mums are swimming. It is known as one of the low-risk sport. Swimming is a low impact sport due to buoyancy; we weigh 1/10th less in the water. This makes the sport a universal form of cardio that’s kind to our joints, bones or connective tissue. Compare to other activities like jogging or running, there is no ground impact when we swim, so our joints are protected from strain from pounding the pavement.
Besides these, swimmers also pick up skills like time management, sportsmanship, goal setting, self-discipline, not to mention improved coordination and increase in self-esteem. Expect increase in energy levels which helps us perform better in daily work. The discipline and routine imparts a sense of accomplishment and therefore boost self-esteem.

Mom Praise The Benefits of Swimming
Although many young people grimace at the thought of leaving home on another cold, snowy morning at the school this winter, many local children are already in place for a couple of hours of swimming.
Joel Barlow High Harder Morgan Scarth and Robb Wilton Wilton YMCA Wahoo are part of the national swimming team that practices regularly several mornings a week at 05:15 and practices in the afternoon and Saturday morning. What have these young people to be willing to make such a commitment, when many kids today have difficulty in detaching from the computer screen, even on hot days? A conversation with the mothers in the local swimming provided some answers.
“They love it,” was the general consensus among the mothers. While their children have swum for years, their continued involvement appears to be a combination of not just enjoying the sport but the relationships they have formed along the way.
As Lauri Harder noted, “Swimming is one of the only sports that involves boys and girls together.”
Allison Gurley, mother of two girls who swim for the Wahoos, said, “It has expanded their circle of friends beyond Redding … they aren’t reliant on their school friends to have fun.”
“The kind of kids that are willing to put in that kind of time and effort tend to have pretty strong character, which can contribute to some great relationships,” said Penny Scarth. “Given the amount of time these kids spend together over the year, they have lots of opportunity to get close.”
But a strong social life was not the only benefit these swim moms see for their kids. Scarth noted the obvious physical benefits.
“Swimming is one of the best exercises that there is as it involves upper and lower extremities, excellent cardiovascular conditioning, and is essentially a no impact sport lessening the likelihood of injuries,” she said.
An occupational therapist working in two local school systems, Scarth stated that she sees increasing numbers of children who are in poor physical condition. “Our levels of childhood obesity continued to climb and many children are far less active than they once were,” she said. “One of the disadvantages of living in the suburban area that we do is that kids seemingly need to be driven everywhere to do things, so many end up spending a lot of time sitting at home inactive.”
Scarth, who has taught swimming and worked as a lifeguard, urged parents to get their children in the water early, when they are infants. At that age, they typically have not developed a fear of the water and it is much easier to get them comfortable with it.
Many local pools have “mommy and me classes,” which can be a very fun activity for parents with younger children but will also provide a foundation from which they can learn to swim.
“I think everyone should learn to swim at least well enough to survive in the water if need be,” said Harder. “There continue to be too many drowning accidents that occur because people do not know how to swim. “Teaching your kids to swim and to be comfortable in the water is a gift you give for life.”
Gurley added, “I can pretty much guarantee that at age 80 they probably won’t be fielding a soccer team (although they may prove me wrong), but they will still be in the pool swimming in some way, shape, or form.”
Besides the social and physical benefits, the Redding swim moms cited numerous other ways that swimming has contributed to their children’s lives. “Swimming is such a time commitment that is has taught my daughters great time management skills when it comes to homework,” said Gurley. “My daughters find the practices very meditative and it helps to de-stress them. Also, they are seen by everyone is a swimsuit all of the time, therefore they have really good body self-image, which isn’t always the case with young teenage girls.”
Gurley also values the improved confidence the sport has given her girls. “When they get up on the block to race, it’s like being on a stage. They are not shy about public speaking and can carry themselves with confidence.”
While all three moms stated the sooner you start your kids the better, they also noted that swimming is a sport that kids may get involved in at any point. “It is different from typical team sports in that while you swim for a ‘team’ you still swim for yourself and you create your own destiny,” said Gurley. “There is no letting your team down.”

Taking part in benefit swimming events is nothing new to David Gelfand. Now he’s actually organizing one.
The 11-year -old is putting together a swim-athon fund-raiser on April 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Weston Middle School Pool. Proceeds will benefit Weston Swimming as well as the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). The event is open to swimmers of all ages.

Swimming is beneficial for people who suffer from a variety of painful physical conditions or disabilities, such as arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and knee or back problems, as well as for athletes recovering from injuries. Swimming puts little impact on the body's joints since nearly 90 percent of your body weight is supported by the water when you are immersed. Dieters can benefit because 30 minutes of swimming burns between 260 and 400 calories. Swimming can also help relieve stress and anxiety.
Swimming is an aerobic exercise. It uses large muscle groups, and if you swim for a minimum of 15 minutes, your heart rate stays between 60 to 80 percent of your maximum heart rate -- this boosts your cardiovascular system by conditioning the heart to deliver oxygen to your body's tissues in larger amounts and more quickly.
Swimming provides an overall workout for the body's major muscle systems, and can effectively define and tone the legs, upper arms and shoulders. The Disabled World website reports that because water is significantly denser than air, your muscles must work approximately 30 percent harder when you are swimming than they do in land-based exercise. This extra muscular output can help burn fat, increase endurance and build lean muscle tissue.

Swimming is Safer
Article about swimming.
Swimming is safer than walking or jogging as it adds no stress to the knees, ankles, legs and back. During swimming, your body is in a situation of near weightlessness, which helps you to be more relaxed and strengthens the muscles of the whole body. As an aerobic exercise, swimming ensures the well being of your heart and lungs, enhances your immune system, and helps decrease problems associated with cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, allergies, diabetes, and more. Swimming can also strengthen the flexibility of your joints.
Swimming is suitable for people of nearly all ages and abilities. The buoyancy in the water helps minimize the risk of injuries that may often happen in other exercises. Many people who find weight bearing activities difficult, such as pregnant women and people with arthritis or back pain, discover that swimming is an excellent workout alternative. Swimming is also a good choice for the elderly, as the low impact nature of water exercise helps them avoid potential injury. And the earlier babies are introduced to the water, the better swimmers they will be. Water provides them with familiar circumstances, similar to their mother’s womb and helps them adjust to the world outside their mothers’ body quickly. It has been shown that babies can float underwater almost immediately after birth, and it seems that they really enjoy the activity. The most attractive thing about swimming is that it is a wonderful recreational activity for individuals and families alike, whether in a swimming pool, a river, or the sea. Aquatic exercise is the favorite pastime of many children. It helps them to develop the habit of incorporating regular exercise in their early lives. Teaching your child how to swim is one of the most enjoyable experiences a parent can have. Swimming develops confidence and a positive self-image in young people. Research indicates that early swimmers perform better on tests measuring social, academic, motor skills, and personality development.

Today we are exploring the benefits of swimming on our show. Swimming is a wonderful workout, which uses almost all the major muscle groups. It is a good sport for building muscle and increasing endurance. A major benefit of swimming is the improvement of the cardiovascular system. Regular swimming will improve the efficiency with which the body makes use of oxygen which in turn allows the heart to work less strenuously. Researchers found that when swimming in water, one’s heart rate decreases between 10 and 30 beats per minute because of the lower temperature and buoyancy of the water. While swimming, the heart pumps just as much blood as in other exercises, but more slowly.
Low water temperatures also stimulate blood circulation and metabolism. According to statistical analysis, most people’s hearts beat about 66-72 times per minute and pump about 60 ml of blood per heartbeat while the person is at rest. A long-term, regular swimmer at rest, however, has a heart rate of about 50 beats per minute, while each beat pumps about 90-120 ml of blood. Another major benefit of swimming is to enhance the functions of the respiratory system. Our body’s metabolism cannot function properly without a sufficient oxygen supply. When we are under water, the weight of the water exerts pressure on the chest and abdomen. This makes it somewhat difficult to breath. Studies indicate that the weight of water on the chest while swimming is equivalent to12-15 kg of pressure. In order to obtain enough oxygen, the respiratory muscles must exert themselves more than usual. In this way the respiratory system gains significant strength from regular swimming. Research shows that the lung capacity of people who swim regularly may reach 5000-6000 ml, while normal people only have 3000-4000ml. In the process of swimming, the stimulation of cool water leads to the constriction of the blood vessels in the skin. As the body increases the metabolism and creates more heat in order to guarantee sufficient normal body temperature, the blood supply to the skin blood vessels is improved. This is believed to make your skin healthier. Nowadays, swimming is regarded as a perfect way to build your body shape. It tones all the muscles of the body and ensures that almost all muscle groups get proper exercise. Swimming burns energy at a rate of about 500-650 calories per hour. According to research on swimming and calorie expenditure, speed swimming burns only slightly less calories than running or biking. So, by swimming for fitness one can achieve nearly the same beneficial effects that are offered by other exercises, without the bodily strain.
Swimming is a life-long activity that not only builds the body, but also has therapeutic physical and psychological effects. It can even help our best friends, the dogs. Stay tuned to Supreme Master Television to find out how.
Nowadays swimming is widely accepted as a great way to recover from injuries. The buoyancy of water allows the joints to be worked under far less pressure than they would be on land. With proper guidance, swimming can be part of an effective physical therapy program to deal with muscle and joint problems, such as arthritis and pack pain. Again, the water’s buoyancy makes it easy for muscles and joints to move in a wide range of motion, which can help your body to gradually and gently rehabilitate muscles and joints that have stiffened or atrophied. In many cases, swimming can be very effective in alleviating or even eliminating back pain. Back pain is a common problem affecting athletes and swimming is a great way to help them keep active. Many mammals take obvious delight in swimming, notably our good friend, the dog. The benefits of swimming for dogs are numerous and are almost the same as for humans.

Stretching Routine
About swimming stretching routine.
Swimming is a demanding sport that requires high levels of cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility. A regular stretching routine helps to prepare the body for the various actions that will be performed when you swim.
Muscles used in Swimming
Swimming is an activity that works just about every muscle in the body, with particular emphasis on the core muscles, as well as the muscles of the arms, shoulders and upper back. In freestyle, the mail muscles used are the large muscles of the thigh, and the chest and shoulder muscles. In the butterfly stroke, the abdominals, the lower back and the shoulder muscles are used. In breaststroke, the gluteal muscles, thighs and chest are used. While in backstroke, the leg muscles, chest and triceps are used.
The Benefits of a Swimming Stretching Routine
Having an effective swimming stretching routine as part of your swim training is crucial, as it goes a long way in improving your overall performance. Here are some of the benefits:
- Stretching before swimming will help to increase the flexibility of your body so that you get maximum muscle contraction. It also helps to improve your overall performance.
- When you stretch properly, the length of the muscle increases, leading to reduced muscle tension and increased range of motion. Due to the increased range, you can increase the distance the limbs move before damage to the tendons and muscles can occurs. This means that you will be able to move your limbs more freely while swimming.
- A regular swimming stretching routine can help prevent injuries like:
º Rotator cuff tendonitis, a condition that causes acute irritation in the shoulder tendons and muscles.
º Knee tendonitis, a condition that causes irritation in the knee tendons and muscles.
º Musculotendinous overuse injuries, generally of the shoulder and elbow. - Finally, even the most basic swimming stretching routine can just make you feel better. Glossing over it in your regular swimming training, however, could cost you dearly.

Swimming Benefit Overweight Kids
Here’s about how swimming can benefit overweight kids.
If your child doesn't know how to swim, find an instructor at your local pool, swim club, or fitness center. Your child needs to start out right by knowing how to breathe properly and how to position his or her body to avoid strain.
Once your child has had lessons, encourage swimming two or three times a week. Don't be surprised if your child becomes so addicted to the water that he or she asks to go swimming every day. Make sure to check with the doctor first, though, before your child starts an exercise routine.
Swim gear
Aside from a bathing suit, your child won't need much in the way of equipment. One important piece of equipment that may come in handy is a good pair of goggles to prevent eye irritation and help your child see underwater. If he or she wears glasses, ask about prescription goggles. Don't forget the sunscreen if your child is swimming outdoors. And while not essential, swim fins and kickboards are great tools for building and working leg muscles.
Swimming for exercise
Talk to your doctor about the best type of swim routine for your child. It's important to start off slowly and build gradually. The amount of time your child swims is more important than how quickly he or she moves.
Advise your child to move at his or her own pace, for instance swimming for 30 seconds and then resting for 30 seconds. Over time, when your child feels ready, he or she can gradually increase the intervals to 45 seconds on and 15 seconds off.
Encourage a break from this routine every now and then. If you have fins or a kickboard, have your child work on strengthening his or her leg muscles. Or suggest that your child switch things up by trying the breaststroke or backstroke for a while.
